Every edition brings a practising artist into the room—not just to teach a skill, but to open up their practice. Through conversations, demonstrations, and shared experiences, participants explore what it means to create, collaborate, and sustain an artistic life.
At Kalāśālā, the focus is not just on the finished work, but on the journey behind it.

This masterclass is designed to offer insights into an artist's lived practice. Throughout the day, participants will explore:
Building and sustaining an artistic practice
Approaching acting across theatre and film
Understanding creative processes—from idea to performance
Collaboration and ensemble work
Navigating the realities and challenges of being a contemporary artist
Developing resilience, discipline, and curiosity as a creative practitioner
Learning through conversation, reflection, and shared practice
Rather than offering a fixed method or formula, this masterclass invites participants to engage with the questions, choices, and experiences that shape an artist's journey.
Who is Alok Rajwade?
Who is Alok Rajwade?
Alok Rajwade is an acclaimed actor, director, writer, and theatre-maker whose work spans theatre, film, and digital media. A prominent voice in contemporary Marathi theatre, he is known for creating original, collaborative, and thought-provoking work that has influenced a new generation of performers and audiences.
As a founding member of Natak Company, Alok has written and directed several celebrated productions, including Geli Ekvis Varsha, Institute of Pavtology, Binkamache Samvad, Sindhu, Sudhakar, Rum Aani Itar, A Doubtful Gaze at Uber at Midnight, and Prasthan urph Exit. His work has been presented at major theatre festivals across India and internationally.
Alongside his theatre practice, Alok has built a distinguished career in cinema. His performances in films such as Vihir, Rajwade and Sons, Rama Madhav, Kaasav, Pimpal, Family Katta, and Me Vasantrao have earned widespread critical acclaim. He also made his feature directorial debut with Ashleel Udyog Mitramandal.
In recognition of his contribution to the performing arts, Alok was featured in Forbes India 30 Under 30 (Art & Culture) in 2017. He continues to work across theatre, film, and digital platforms while mentoring emerging artists and contributing to the evolving landscape of contemporary Indian performance.
